How to use Windows Defender to solve Windows 10 problems ?

Here we review a method among the ways to solve various types of Windows 10 problems that you encounter from time to time while working on your computer, and we will rely on this method on the default protection program Windows Defender, so let's explain how.

Windows Defender is no longer the same as it was in Windows 7, 8 and 8.1, but rather differently in Windows 10. Windows Defender can provide very effective services and features to eliminate viruses and malware and prevent their infiltration into the user's device.

And with every new Windows 10 update, Windows Defender always gets some improvements and additions that enhance its position and make the user not need to purchase and download third-party anti-virus programs on the computer.

A while ago, specifically after the Creators Update for Windows 10, Windows Defender got a new interface completely different from the old interface to fit the design language used in Windows 10. But besides the new interface, the program also included a new feature called Fresh Start that can help Windows users. 10 to get rid of most problems related to the operating system, such as encountering errors when opening programs, or that the system performance began to gradually decrease, or that there is abnormal activity occurring on the computer.

What is the Fresh Start feature?

Fresh Start performs a clean reinstall of Windows 10 leaving your personal data intact. In other words, when you use the Fresh Start feature, everything in the system will be returned to its normal state as if you installed the system for the first time on the device, but without deleting your installed Microsoft data, settings and applications, but all programs will be removed. The feature also installs the latest version of Windows 10 instead of reverting to the old version again.

In conclusion, the feature will solve all Windows 10 problems by returning default settings and applications and installing the latest version. On the other hand, you have to reinstall the programs and adjust the system settings again, and this kind of takes a lot of time, but be sure that Windows 10 will return to work normally without facing any of the problems you were facing before using the feature.

What you should do first ...

As we mentioned in the previous lines, the Fresh Start feature resets the Windows system and returns it to the default mode, and this means deleting some files and programs related to the user. To overcome this obstacle, you can create a backup copy of the most important files on the hard disk so that you do not lose them while using the Fresh Start feature.

How to solve Windows 10 problems using the Fresh Start feature

To start using the Fresh Start feature, you must first run Windows Defender Security Center by clicking on its icon from the notification area on the taskbar, or by going to Settings, then to Security & Updates section, then go to the Windows Security page Then click on the Open Windows Defender Security Center button on the right side.

After the program window opens, click on "Device Performance & Health" and then click on Additional Info to open the Fresh Start page. There you will click on the Get started button to start using the Fresh Start feature.

After pressing the Get Started button, a pop-up window will appear on the screen containing a brief overview of what Fresh Start does or what will happen after using it. You will also get a general idea of how long it will take for the order to be done, as it tells you that the process may take 20 minutes or more, depending on your device, and it may reach an hour to complete the task. Generally, press the Next button to continue.

After that, a window like the one shown in the image attached above will be displayed where a list of all the applications and programs that will be removed from the computer after the Fresh Start feature performs its task and reinstall the system is listed. But you do not have to save this list manually, after reinstalling the system, you will find a file on the desktop called Removed Apps that contains this list and it is definitely useful so that you can reinstall these programs and applications again. Then, you press the Next button to continue and then start.

After pressing the Start button, the initial system booting stage for the reinstallation process will begin, where files will be deleted and Windows services will be stopped, and this will take about 10 minutes. And after the completion of the initial stage, the computer will be restarted more than once during the operations required to restore the system to its ideal state.

Just leave the device for some time until the Login Screen appears, then you will enter the login data to display the desktop and operate the system without any of the problems you were facing before. As I mentioned, you can open the Removed Apps file so that it identifies the deleted programs and installs them again.
